Summer Reading Incentives

Check out these cool 2016 Summer Reading Programs!

Scholastic Read for the World Record:  Students sign up under Knowles Elementary, and log in their minutes daily or weekly to win virtual prizes.  Student can also write their own original stories and win signed books!  Enter the summer sweepstakes and win cool prizes from KLUTZ.  Last year's World Record was 304,749,681 minutes!  Let's work together to add minutes for Knowles Elementary and help to beat the record!

Barnes & Noble:  Students can participate in "Summer Reading Triathlon" and get to pick a free book after completing 3 of 4 events!  Want more info? Click on the link!

Half Price Books:   Join Half Price books in the "Feed your Brain Summer Reading" program.  Students 14 and under set goals to read at least 15 minutes per day.  Have your parents sign your reading log at the end of each week. Once you've read 300 minutes, turn in your reading log to receive HPB $5 Bookworm Bucks!  Want more info? Click on the link!

Chuck E. Cheese:  Set a reading goal for 2 weeks.  Once you have completed the reading log, bring it in for 10 free tokens! 

HEBuddy:  HEBuddy is asking students to read 10 books & get parent initials.  Send your reading log in & wait for a surprise!  

Pizza Hut Book It Summer Reading ChallengeRegister to read 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, and have fun reading with cool activities, exciting games, and the chance to earn prizes!

Leander Public Library: Click the link to find out more information about the "Reading to the Rescue!" Summer Reading Program filled with performers, movies, and clubs for girls and boys!  Plus, for every 2 hours of reading, students can earn a prize! 

Cedar Park Public Library:  Kids, teens, and yes even adults can participate in the "On Your Mark, Get Set...Read!" Summer Reading Program.  For more information, click on the link! 

Round Rock Public Library:  Celebrate science and reading with challenges, performances, and prizes during the "On Your Mark, Get Set...Read!" reading challenge!  Click the link for more information.

Austin Public Library: Kids check out any Austin Public Library location June through August for the many activities taking place, your free ticket to a summer full of reading and loads of fun.

Summer Library Info


River Ridge Elementary and Cedar Park High School libraries will be openfor summer library service. All libraries listed below will have books for  Elementary, Middle and High School students. Stop by and check-out books to read over the upcoming summer months!


Come read with us at


River Ridge will be open Monday & Wednesdays, 9:00-Noon. A story time will be provided at 9:30 and Makerspace items will be available afterwards.
  • June 13, 15, 20, 22, 27
  • July 11, 13, 18, 29, 25
  • August 1, 3 (all books due last day)



What is a Makerspace? It's a space where students have an opportunity to make, build, create, develop, design, imagine, experiment, discover and share ideas with a variety of objects, kits, and tools. Come see what's available!



Open daily, Monday-Friday 8:00-1:00
  • First Session: June 14-June 30
  • Second Session: July 12-July 28
  • All books due by July 28
